The Parent/Community Committee is sponsoring a free Bingo night Wednesday, September 10th. The Senior Class will also be selling snacks as a class fundraiser.

Andre Ingram Brief Bio
Andre Ingram is a professional basketball player. He grew up in Richmond, VA, graduating from
Highland Springs High School in 2003. From there he went on to attend American University,
earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics while playing basketball for the University for four years.
After graduating in 2007, he began his professional basketball career, playing in the minor
leagues of the NBA (G-League) for the Utah Flash and South Bay Lakers. Andre has played the
most games and has made the most 3-pointers in G-League history.
On April 9, 2018, Andre earned an NBA "call-up" and signed with the Los Angeles Lakers for the
remainder of the season. In his NBA debut against the Houston Rockets, Andre came off the
bench to score 19 points and electrify the Staples Center crowd. News of Andre's long,
inspirational journey to the NBA made headlines around the world. He threw out the first pitch
at a Los Angeles Dodgers game and made appearances on Good Morning America,
SportsCenter, and TNT. In 2019, the Lakers called Andre up again for a 10-day contract where
this time he got to play with LeBron James. Andre is currently training to play another
professional basketball season and also coaches/trains college and K-12 grade athletes! He and
his wife, Marilee, have two daughters, Maliyah and Navi, and a son, Baby Andre aka ‘Chief.’

NWEA benchmark testing is August 25 - 29 for grades KG - 8th grade. Please make sure your child is in attendance all week to avoid makeup testing and that their technology use agreements has been signed & returned for their computers.

The first day of school is tomorrow, Monday, August 18th. Doors will open for breakfast at 7:30 a.m. CST with classes beginning at 8:15.
Buses routes remain the same but are slightly earlier than last year. Please make sure your child is ready and arrives on time as we start another great year!

Practice for Volleyball & Cross Country will start Monday, August 18th, after school at 3:45. A completed physical must be returned before a student can participate.

The Wakpala Public School will be going to a 4 day school week in the 2025-2026 school year. A tentative schedule and more information will be posted as details are finalized.

Registration for the 25-26 school year will be August 5-7 & 11-14 from 9am - 3pm. School starts on Monday, August 18th with a 4-day school week this year!

The Mobridge Medical Clinic is having FREE Sports Physicals on July 29th from 3-5 pm for Middle School students & July 30th from 3-5 pm for High School students. Forms can be found at the Mobridge Medical Clinic or wakpala.k12.sd.us

Yesterday, June 18th, summer school students participated in a plant walk led by Sunshine Claymore and Renae Schmitt. Students learned how to identify various grassland plants. They also learned about the plants' medicinal uses and cultural significance.
