There will be a 2 hour late start today, Monday, March 14, due to road conditions.

There will be no school on Thursday, March 10th & Friday, March 11th for spring break. Classes will resume on Monday March 14th. Enjoy the long weekend!

There will be no after-school program Wednesday, March 9th.

Mrs. Schlomer’s kindergarten class, together with Mrs. Griewski’s ELA classes celebrated “Read Across America” on March 2nd. The classes collaborated to complete different literacy projects. The 5th grade students joined the kindergartners in making homemade vanilla ice cream in a bag. After listening to the book "Be You", 3rd grade and kindergarten students paired up to draw and color a self-portrait.
Later, the kindergarten class adopted “reading buddies” to take home and practice reading with.

This school year, we are participating in Feeding South Dakota’s BackPack Program courtesy of Billy Mills and Running Strong for American Indian Youth. Our first food sacks will be given to every student at the end of the day this Friday, October 1, and will occur on every last day of the week for the entire 2021-2022 school year. There will be a Boys Middle School Basketball game today, Wednesday, March 2nd, in the Fort Yates Middle School Gym. Tip-off time has been changed to 3:30 pm CST.

The middle school boys basketball game scheduled for tomorrow, February 24th, with SR Middle School is rescheduled for next Wednesday, March 2nd, at 4:30 pm CST, at the Fort Yates Middle School gym. There will be NO MS BBall practice today. There WILL be MS Boys BBall practice tomorrow, February 24.

The Wakpala Boys Basketball team will play Lemmon at Timberlake on Tuesday, March 1st, at 8:00 PM CST.

The Wakpala Public School is offering a fan bus for anyone who would like to see the Boys Basketball team play at Regions on Tuesday, March 1st. The bus will be at the Wakpala Community Center from 5:00-5:15 pm CST and at Holiday, in Mobridge, from 5:30-5:45. The bus will leaving for Timber Lake at 5:45. The stops will remain the same upon return. All children must be accompanied by an adult & all riders are responsible for their own admission fees at the game which are $6 for Adults and $4 for students.

The Vaccination Incentive for students that expired on November 1st has been extended to March 1st, 2022 and has been broadened to include children ages 5-11. The incentive now includes all children age 5 years & older. There is only one vaccination payment per child. If your child has already received an incentive, this application does not apply.
